Frequently asked questions
What math should a 1st grader know?
By the end of Grade 1 most children can add and subtract within 20, count to 120, compare two-digit numbers, and recognise basic shapes and simple fractions such as halves.
How many sight words should a first grader read?
Around 100 high-frequency sight words is a common Grade 1 target. Our reading workbook introduces and revisits them in context rather than as flashcards.
Should I buy the mixed workbook or the single-subject ones?
The mixed-subject workbook is ideal for general review across the year. Choose the single-subject math, reading or writing books when your child needs concentrated practice in one area.
